Everything was more or less closed today because of Issac. It didn't really hit my area all that hard, but most places took it as an excuse to close. Which meant it could have been a boring day. I’m currently playing ‘drama catch up’ in an attempt to finish a few dramas and stay on top of a couple of others. I’ve finished A Gentleman’s Dignity and enjoyed it. The recent success of Korea drama Answer 1997 has made me think of other recent (or not so recent) Asian (Korean, Japanese, even Taiwanese) dramas that had (mostly) teen/young 20s casts. It made me think of the dramas that were aimed more toward teenage/twenties crowds. Some of them are cracky or silly, but some, like Answer 1997 have deeper plots ( Read more... )

It seems countries like Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Mainland China are always using mangas, manhwas, and manhuas as inspiration for their dramas. In fact, it seems like 90% of Japanese dramas in the last few years have been based on mangas. And, how many Taiwanese Idol dramas are based on Shoujo mangas?
